Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She is the youngest woman and the first to receive an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar singer. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. Born in 1982, she was raised in London. The first few years of her life were split in London in London and New Delhi. Her first performance took place at New Delhi when she was just 13 years old. Later, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha still has a promising performing and recording careers, even though she's young. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for quite a few years. She released her debut solo album Anourag in 1998. It was nominated for a Grammy Award. Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Her career on stage is extensive for she has performed in most of the world's major venues. The career of Anoushka goes far beyond music. When she was 9 She began studying music with her father. Her first performance with the sitar came at her 75th Birthday celebration in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka had the opportunity to acquire many valuable experiences when she accompanied her father on his world tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as making recordings together with George Harrison. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was given the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
