Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. The West Island can be confusing to people unfamiliar of its purpose. Many people believe that it's an island located west of Montreal however it's actually the West Island encompasses everything between the cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently mentioned, but her brief time in the city wasn't. Brugel grew-up in Courtice close to Oshawa the city of Ontario. In her early years, she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article written by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. After I outgrew the male counterparts, I gave up. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In Brugel's case, it was the encouragement from her drama teacher in high school who pushed her to take the step she wanted. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in school's annual play. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual show. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000, she received her BA in Fine Arts at York University. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, large and small. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
